Britain is not exactly known for year round mediterranean weather, so we have to make the most of the moments when the sun is shining and it is warm outside. There are many ways you can relax and soak up those peaceful moments, and here is our guide to doing so. Whether it is a slow paced session of stand up paddle boarding, or going mad in Summer sun at a festival, there is something on this list for everyone.
If you have gone out to your local lake or river, you have most likely seen people moving around on stand up paddle boards. Paddleboarding is a great way to enjoy the summer sun and explore your local area. Water sports as a whole have become increasingly popular over recent years, and the Covid pandemic has only helped fuel that growth. You can enjoy gaining a sense of solitude whilst you are on the water in the sun, and enjoy the contrast to being cooped up inside during the winter months.
Whilst it might seem very basic, there’s nothing I enjoy more than a walk in the great outdoors, especially when the weather is brilliant. If you are lucky enough to live near a national park or set of hills, go for a daytrip and spend your time ascending to the summit, and then enjoy the view down on your local surroundings. It can really provide you with another perspective on where you live, and also helps you get all the benefits of being in the sun.
Brits love going to the beach, and it is especially popular on a sunny summer’s day. If you love being alongside fellow holiday goers, there are plenty of famous beaches you can go to. If you want a more relaxing time, maybe try and find a hidden beach that is off the beaten track and won’t be swarmed by tourists.
Because of the pandemic, the last few years have been rather difficult for festivals. But this year, things are back to normal and there is a huge slate of festivals you can look forward to. Find one near to you, or find a festival that caters to your music taste; and quickly book up your tickets!
Whilst the roar of a crowd at a festival or soaking up the sun alongside hundreds of others at a beach can be fun, there is nothing more relaxing than quietly reading your book in the Summer sun at your local park. You can dive into your current read, observe the nature around you, or even people watch if you enjoy doing that.
If being alone and reading doesn’t take your fancy, there are plenty of sporting events on the horizon that will be amazing to attend and will be hopefully complimented by great weather. The biggest of those events will be the UEFA Women’s EUROs, hosted in England this year. Hopefully it should create a great atmosphere, like the Men’s Euro’s did last year.
